More Binder Stuff - Percussion Accessories (freebies)

Percussion accessories - the instruments that add the sparkle and the "wow!" to a piece of music. Today, I will share the information I've gathered on those special instruments that add the pizzazz to our band halls.

This article covers Triangle, Tambourine, Cymbals, and Bass Drum and is written by Neil Grover.

This article by Rich Holly & John R. Beck includes information on Triangle, Tambourine, Bass Drum, Suspended Cymbal, Maracas (and other Shakers), Congas, Claves, Crash Cymbals, Woodblock/Temple Blocks, Castanets, & Sleigh Bells.

This next article is from PASIC 2003 by the Caixa Trio & includes great information and pictures for tambourine, triangle, crash cymbals, and suspended cymbal.

The next article is by Neil Grover again - from PASIC 2000 and includes information on Bass Drum, Cymbals, & Tambourine.

The next article is part of the PAS Fundamentals Track by Kristen Shiner McGuire and is solely about the bass drum.

The next article is by David L. Collier and was part of the PASIC '99. It is about bass drum & cymbals.

The next article is a short one from Jillian Pritchard about castanets (you can see the entire article in this screenshot).

Another article by McGuire - this one is regarding crash cymbals.

The next article is part of the PAS Fundamentals Track about Cymbals was written by UNT Professor, Christopher Deane.

Another article about cymbals - this one by Dorr. It includes a graphic I use when I have to retie a crash cymbal handle (see screenshot). It also includes more information about bass drum.

Another short article by McGuire - this one about Maracas (again, the screenshot shows the entire article).

We're a little more than halfway done here, folks! Here's another short article by McGuire - this one about suspended cymbal.

Here's a very short article about Tambourine by Deane.

The next article is only about Tambourine and was written by Neil Grover & Garwood Whaley.

Here's a short article about playing the tambourine by Jillian Pritchard.

The next article by Christopher Deane from PASIC '99 talks about Tambourine & Triangle. I love the graphics for playing the triangle correctly (see screenshot).

The next article is by Grover & Whaley again, but this time is only about the triangle. The article gives a brief history lesson on the triangle.

Here's a one-page article on triangle by Pritchard (the screenshot shows the entire article).

The last article I'll share with you today is by Marshall Maley and is about Triangle, Concert Bass Drum, & Concert Snare Drum. He includes a short etude he composed using all three.

Well, that's it, folks! I hope you've gotten a lot of information that you can sort through and pass on to your students for their band binders. I think my next post will include some of the handouts that I've discovered since posting about those particular instruments. Sayonara for now!
