More Binder Stuff - Tuba (freebies)

Tuba - the most important instrument in the band, but sometimes the most difficult to get kids to excel at.

The articles in the trumpet, horn, trombone, & euphonium posts can apply to tuba (optimal breathing, etc.). So this post will only include fingering charts & exercises.

Here's a simple fingering chart. It doesn't include the fourth valve, so like the euphonium chart, you'll need to have the kids write in the fingerings to utilize the fourth valve.

Here's another fingering chart - it's by Professor Skip Gray

Like the Euphonium, there are Low-Range Warm-ups.

Here's a High-Range exercise.

Here's a Prokofiev Study from Romeo & Juliet created by Don Little.

And last, but not least, the simple slurs for beginners.

I understand that some of these exercises are pretty advanced, but you may have a student or two who are really into the tuba and practice a lot. They probably take lessons, so you can share these exercises with their private teacher and see if they think your student is ready for them.

Tomorrow's post will be percussion. Many of the great percussion resources are videos, but I'll see what documents I can find. See you tomorrow!
